Waiting for first light, Granite Range, Nevada, 18-February-2021

In the Black Rock Desert, the wind blows nearly all the time...it can wear you down. But for five minutes this morning the wind stopped, and the entire landscape was as still and as calm as any I have ever experienced. No wind noise, no cars, no planes or trains, no coyotes, no birds. In this vast space, you could hear a pin drop.
