Life Abides but Barely, Death Valley National Park, California, 9-December-2019
In the background, Telescope Peak (11,043 ft / 1,880 m) shows off a fresh coat of snow, as it looms over Badwater Basin, the lowest point in the Western Hemisphere. And on this rocky hilltop above Death Valley, a few small shrubs have managed to survive the heat and the cold and the lack of rain. It's a stark but beautiful place.
