Cycles of Sand
200 million years ago, this sandstone ledge was a sand dune at the edge of an ocean. Over time, it was compressed into sandstone, and then lifted up 6000 feet above sea level. Now, it is slowly turning back into sand, as the forces of erosion wear it away. Bears Ears National Monument, Utah, USA.
